Common questions

Is the Challenge Arena free to play?
Yes. Create a free learner account and you can play every challenge marked Free, including the Daily Challenge whenever it is a free one. Other challenges open with the matching course or a Lab Pass.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Each challenge opens a real terminal or console in your browser. There is nothing to download, set up or configure on your own computer.
Is it a real machine or a simulation?
Most challenges run on a real Linux machine, cloud console or scenario that you work on live, then press Check to grade your work. A few are decision-based scenarios for topics like ITIL and CISM.
How does scoring and the speed board work?
You earn points for each task you solve, and your fastest clean solve of the week is ranked on the speed board. Come back each day to keep your streak going.
Is there a new challenge every day?
Yes. Everyone gets the same Daily Challenge, chosen fresh each day, so you can compare your time with other learners on the same problem.
Do challenges count towards a certificate?
Completing a challenge earns points and a verifiable certificate for that challenge. Your course certificates and exams are separate and are earned through their own labs and proctored exams.
