The situation

Scenario. Recon told you which ports are open on target. Now the incident-response lead needs to know what is listening and which version, so they can check it against known-vulnerable releases. You will fingerprint the services the way both attackers and defenders do.

What you will do

  1. Version-scan the services
  2. Grab the web banner by hand
  3. Name the web server
  4. Why does the full Server banner matter?question
  5. Reduce the banner on the target

How it works

The lab opens in your browser: a real terminal or desktop, nothing to install. Work through the tasks, press Check after each one and the portal verifies your work. Stuck? Ask for a hint. Finish every task and you get a certificate page with its own verification link for LinkedIn or your CV.
