Intune is cloud MDM/MAM: it enrolls devices, pushes configuration profiles and apps, and enforces security settings. A compliance policy defines what makes a device healthy (encryption on, OS version, PIN) and marks non-compliant devices; Conditional Access can then block those devices from M365 until they comply.

Explain how you gathered the facts you could quickly, identified the biggest risk, made a reversible decision where possible, and set a point to re-evaluate. Note how you communicated the uncertainty and your assumptions. Show judgement and bias for action — making a sound call and adjusting beats waiting for perfect information.

Protect the business first: a production outage affecting users usually wins. State your rule — impact and urgency over who is shouting loudest — communicate quickly to set expectations, delegate or ask for help, and park or renegotiate the lower-impact items with their owners. Show calm, a clear framework, and that you keep people informed.

Set a cadence and a single source of truth: short, regular updates in plain language with status, impact, next step and ETA — even when the news is "no change yet". Tailor the detail to the audience and never let people find out bad news late. Reliable, proactive communication builds the trust that lets you do the technical work.

Retention policies keep or delete content for a set period to meet legal/regulatory needs (e.g. keep email 7 years). Sensitivity labels classify and protect content (encryption, watermarks, access limits) based on how confidential it is, following the data wherever it goes. Both are configured in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal.

Microsoft Defender for Office 365 scans mail: anti-phishing policies (impersonation and spoof protection), Safe Links (rewrites and checks URLs at click time) and Safe Attachments (detonates attachments in a sandbox). Combined with anti-spam/anti-malware policies and user reporting, it blocks or quarantines threats before and after delivery.

Be specific and show it is a habit: hands-on labs and home projects, following release notes and a few trusted sources, a certification roadmap, reading other people’s code or post-mortems, and teaching others to cement what you learn. Tie it to this role’s stack. Enthusiasm plus a concrete routine beats a vague "I love learning".

Create and manage users in the Microsoft 365 admin center or Entra ID; for scale, use PowerShell (Microsoft Graph PowerShell) to bulk-create, assign and report. Assign licences through group-based licensing so membership drives entitlement automatically, rather than per-user clicks. Use dynamic groups to populate membership by attributes.

Pick a real failure and own it without blaming others. Describe how you contained the impact, communicated honestly, fixed the root cause (not just the symptom), and added a safeguard — a test, a monitor, a checklist, a runbook — so it cannot recur. Interviewers want accountability and a blameless, learning mindset, not a claim that you never fail.

Give a concrete example: how you set clear expectations, paired on real work, let them struggle productively before stepping in, gave specific feedback, and gradually handed over ownership. Mention a result — they shipped something, passed a certification, became independent. Leadership is about multiplying others, not doing it all yourself.

Conditional Access enforces controls at sign-in based on user, device, location and risk. For admins: require phishing-resistant MFA, allow only compliant/managed devices, and block legacy authentication. Combine with Privileged Identity Management so admin roles are activated just-in-time with approval, not held permanently.

Run message trace in the Exchange admin center (or Get-MessageTrace) to follow the message and see whether it was delivered, filtered, quarantined or rejected and why. Check the quarantine and mail flow rules (transport rules) and anti-spam/anti-phishing policies. The trace shows the path and the exact event.

Show that you separated the person from the problem. Explain how you listened to their reasoning, brought data or a small proof of concept instead of opinions, looked for the shared goal (reliability, deadline, cost), and either reached agreement or disagreed-and-committed to the team’s decision. Avoid blaming; emphasise the outcome and the relationship staying intact.

The admin centers are fine for one-off tasks; PowerShell automates bulk and repeatable work — creating hundreds of users, reporting on licences or sign-ins, and applying settings consistently. Connect with Connect-MgGraph, scope the permissions, then run Graph cmdlets. Scripts are repeatable and auditable.

Use Service health in the Microsoft 365 admin center (and the Microsoft 365 Status feed) to see active incidents and advisories affecting your tenant, with affected services and updates. The Message center posts upcoming changes. You monitor these and proactively tell users when an incident affects them.

Grant each admin only the role they need (e.g. Exchange Administrator, Helpdesk Administrator) instead of Global Administrator. Keep Global Admins to a small number, protected with MFA and PIM. Use admin role groups and review membership regularly. This limits the blast radius if an account is compromised.

Connect your answer to the actual job and company: what about the work, the stack or the mission fits your strengths and goals. For the three-year question, show healthy ambition and direction (deeper expertise, more ownership, perhaps leading) that the company could realistically support, so it reads as commitment, not a stepping stone.

Use the STAR method: briefly set the Situation and Task, then spend most of your answer on the Action — how you broke the problem down, what you tried, how you tested — and finish with the Result and what you learned. Pick a real example with a measurable outcome (time saved, outage resolved) and show your reasoning, not just the fix.

OneDrive is a user’s personal cloud storage. SharePoint hosts team/site document libraries for shared content. Teams uses a SharePoint site behind each team for its Files and OneDrive for one-to-one chat file sharing. Governance (sharing settings, retention, sensitivity labels) is applied centrally so files are shared safely.

Lead with the impact in their terms (cost, risk, time, customers affected), not the technical cause. Use a simple analogy, avoid jargon, and offer a clear recommendation with options and trade-offs. Confirm they have understood and tell them what you need from them. The goal is a confident decision, not to show how much you know.
